Mother of two (Adults)

Exploration Geochemistry

I chose geosciencies because I though it was an exciting career not thinking much about the future and children. Everything occurred without much planning. When my daugthers were very young (between 1 and 4 years) was very difficult, I did not sleep very much, everything was done slowly. My mother was a great help, everytime I was in the field she move to my home and took care of my daugthers. If I owe my career to anyone from that time, it is her, for helping me with my daughters so I could continue doing fieldwork. I am senior researcher at the Geological Survey of Portugal (LNEG) and of course working in the Geological Survey also helped, given that public sector employees have rights and guarantees regarding work-life balance.

Advice for other mums

Do not think too much :)
